As part of the Shakespeare anniversary year, the Royal Opera House are reviving their 2013 commission, Elizabeth, at the Linbury. Will Tuckett’s work, a portrait of the life and loves of Queen Elizabeth I, is a marriage of dance, music and text with inspiration from the ‘Virgin Queen’ and her contemporaries at its heart.

Baritone David Kempster collaborates with ‘cellist Raphael Wallfisch to provide the music in a modern take on a Tudor-period ensemble. They will be joined by dancers Zenaida Yanowsky and Carlos Acosta in 9 sold out performances at the Linbury studio. The production opens on the 8th January and runs until the 17th January.

David stays on at the ROH to perform Marco in Gianni Schicchi, before appearing as Alfio and Tonio in WNO’s production of Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci.
