Tatsuya Shimono starts as Music Director of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra in April 2017.

From Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra – The Board of Directors and musicians of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra are delighted that Maestro Shimono accepted the position of Music Director from April 2017.  Mr. Igata, General Manager, says, ‘ The orchestra has been developed by the present Music Director,  Maestro Akiyama. We believe that Maestro Shimono would love us just like Akiyama or more, and lead us passionately as a new Music Director. We look forward to a long and inspiring collaboration with him.’

Tatsuya Shimono on his appointment  “I am honoured to have been chosen as the next general music director of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra. I first had the opportunity to perform with them in 1999, and we have had many concerts together over the following years. Their playing is always filled with passion and the joy of creating music, and I hope I will continue to develop with them and convey my wishes for world peace through music with this important orchestra.”
