Now in its 30th year the Tampere Biennale, established by the City of Tampere and composer Usko Meriläinen, provides a platform for Finnish contemporary music.

In this anniversary festival, Ville Matvejeff and the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra present an all-Finnish programme exploring music written around the time the festival was founded and including two world premieres.

Flautist Mikael Helasvuo joins the orchestra in Usko Meriläinen’s Visions and Whispers, which was first premiered at the opening concert of the first Biennale, whilst the second half presents two world premieres; Amor Omnia by Lotta Wennäkoski, and Himmel Punk by Antti Auvinen.
