Karl-Heinz Steffens steps in at the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig this week for concerts at the Leipzig Gewandhaus and the Theater Erfurt.

Standing in for Markus Poschner, Steffens conducts Bruckner’s Symphony No. 3 alongside Nassidse’s Chamber Symphony No. 3, whilst violist Antoine Tamestit joins the orchestra for Schnittke’s Monologue for Viola and Strings.  Bruckner is core to Steffens’ repertoire – he is currently engaged in an exploration of the complete symphonies with his own orchestra, Die Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz.

The concert in Leipzig will be broadcast on the evening of Sunday 7 May on MDR Leipzig.
