Paul Goodwin makes his conducting debut in Japan this month, joining Masaaki Suzuki and Artistic Director Masato Suzuki at the Chofu International Music Festival.
Since its foundation in 2013 the festival has grown from a local celebration of music to an international festival championing cultural exchange and the music of Bach and his contemporaries.
Two artists renowned for their interpretations of early and baroque music Paul Goodwin and Masaaki Suzuki join forces to conduct the Festival Orchestra in a programme of Bach, Beethoven and Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, marking Goodwin’s conducting debut in Japan.
Hazard Chase sees another of its artists – pianist Yu Kosuge – also perform at this year’s festival. She visits the festival as part of a Japanese tour performing Beethoven’s Quintet for Piano and Winds and Dai Fujikura’s GO for piano and winds.
