Paula makes a welcome return to Santa Fe this year having been a member of the apprenticeship programme as a young artist. Her close association with the US has seen numerous appearances in America’s opera houses, most recently as Dido at Los Angeles Opera and as Stephano in Roméo et Juliette at the Metropolitan Opera New York. Under the baton of conductor Harry Bicket, Paula sings Ruggiero in Alcina, alongside Anna Christy as Morgana, Daniela Mack as Bradamante and Elza van den Heever in the title role. David Alden directs. She will also sing two performances of Prince Orlovsky in Die Fledermaus.
Performances of Alcina will run until 23rd August. Following her performance in the US Paula will travel to the Netherlands to sing Sesto in a touring semi-staged concert production of La clemenza di Tito with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, returning to North America at Christmas for performances of Messiah with Boston Baroque and Bach Cantatas with Les Violons du Roy.
