This summer co-founder and artistic director Viviane Hagner leads the third season of Krzyżowa-Musik, bringing together around 50 gifted young musicians and great masters of chamber music to live and perform together, exchange experiences and explore important repertoire.

Inspired by Viviane’s experiences at the Marlboro Music Festival, the festival is held in Krzyżowa, an important centre of cultural learning for Poles and Germans, and the place where philanthropist and educational reformer Eugenie Schwarzwald formed the Schwarzwald Circle; a collaborative group of artists and academics who fortified interdisciplinary work.

Carrying on this spirit, Krzyżowa-Musik brings together musicians from many different cultures. Throughout the 2017 season, exhibitions at Krzyżowa Palace, and a series of seminars including “Musicians in Exile” complement the performance programme giving participants the chance to reflect on their artistic role in society. As well as concerts in Krzyżowa, Wrocław and the local region, Viviane takes musicians on tour to Warsaw and Germany including performances at the Rheingau Music Fesival, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and a performance for Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg.
