Marie Arnet reprises the role of Susanna in Elena Langer’s Figaro Gets a Divorce as it transfers to Grand Théâtre de Genève, following the world premiere of the production in the 2015-16 season with Welsh National Opera. Russian-born British composer Elena Langer has received commissions and performances from international ensembles, festivals and organisations such as the Royal Opera House’s ROH2, Zurich Opera (Switzerland), the Almeida Opera Festival (UK), Carnegie Hall, and the Britten and Strauss Festival in Aldeburgh.
A new work commissioned by David Pountney, Figaro Gets a Divorce follows the lives of the Almaviva household, continuing the stories of Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia and Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. Marie sings alongside David Stout returning to the role of Figaro, Mark Stone as the Count and Ellie Dehn joining the cast in the role of the Countess.
The production opens on September 14, with performances on 18, 22, and 26 respectively. Most recently, Marie has appeared in the world premiere of Daniel Bjarnason’s The Brothers at Den Jyske Opera, and sung in concert alongside actor, director and producer John Malkovich with the Wiener Akademie.
