The New York-based Escher Quartet tours Europe this month, starting in Germany and continuing to Scotland, England, Hungary and Belgium. Taking in debuts at Musik und Kunstfreunde Heidelberg (7 November), Bath Mozartfest (13 November), Budapest’s Chamber Music Festival (16-19 November), Hampstead Arts Festival (20 November) and de Singel Antwerp (22 November), the quartet’s tour repertoire includes Mozart, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Barber and Grieg.

Meanwhile, the quartet is soon to release its next CD for BIS – its 4th disc on the label – comprising works by Dvorak, Tchaikovsky and Borodin. Due for release on 10 December 2017, the disc follows on from the Escher Quartet’s extremely successful 3-volume Mendelssohn Quartets series, praised for its “sheer finesse” (Gramophone, Volume II) and nominated for a BBC Music Magazine Award (Volume III).
