WNO were delighted to receive the prize for Best Opera Production in the Welsh Theatre Awards for Pelléas and Mélisande when David Pountney’s production was premiered back in 2015. Lithuanian mezzo-soprano Jurgita Adamonytė returns to the role of Mélisande in two performances that form part of the 46th HK Arts Festival. As per the original production the cast also includes Christopher Purves as Golaud and Jacques Imbrailo as Pelléas.
After Hong Kong, Jurgita begins rehearsals for her role debut as Octavian Der Rosenkavalier with Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, which runs from 19th May to 23rd June – this summer she can also be heard as Stephano Roméo et Juliette in Beijing. Jurgita returns to WNO this autumn forWar & Peace.
