Soprano Natalya Romaniw features in the April edition of Opera Now magazine as ‘Artist of the Month’.
One of the nominees in the young singer category for this year’s International Opera Awards, Natalya Romaniw proves she is definitely someone to watch. Currently in rehearsal for Oliver Mears’ new production of Eugene Onegin at Scottish Opera, Tatyana is a role that Romaniw has made her own since her stunning debut at Garsington Opera in 2016.
‘Though her name indicates her half-Ukrainian heritage, Natalya Romaniw was born and brought up in Wales, where she cultivated her dark, soulful soprano, heard to heart-wrenching effect in roles such as Tatyana and Jenůfa. She talks to Hannah Nepil about the process of thorough preparation that leads to complete immersion in roles that she sings’.
