Tito Muñoz, who recently announced the renewal of his contract as Music Director of The Phoenix Symphony, makes his UK debut this week in a concert at Aldeburgh Festival. Together with members of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Ah Young Hong, Kiera Duffy (sopranos), Gary Louie (alto saxophone) and Amy Yang (piano) he will perform works by composer Michael Hersch (*1971), who will also appear as pianist during the evening. The programme includes Hersch’s I hope we get a chance to visit soon, which was co-commissioned by Aldeburgh Festival and which will receive its first European performance here, having been premiered by the same musicians at Ojai Music Festival in California earlier this month. The concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s Hear and Now programme on Saturday, 23rd June, and will be available to catch up on BBC iPlayer shortly after broadcast.
