This month, Karl-Heinz Steffens returns to Israel to make his debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra from July 15th – 26th. Stepping in for Zubin Mehta, he conducts a number of programmes throughout the period including performances of Dvorak’s ‘New World’ Symphony and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with soprano Ann Petersen, mezzo Elisabeth Jansson, tenor Dmitry Korchak and bass Wilhelm Schwinghammer in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa.
He is joined by pianist Rudolf Buchbinder for performances of Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.1, and trombonist Nir Erez is the soloist in Ferdinand David’s Trombone Concerto.
