We are delighted to announce that conductor Carlos Izcaray will continue as Music Director of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra for a further four seasons, as his contract extension is announced today.

After three seasons of breath-taking performances, the ASO extends Carlos’ relationship with the organization through to the 2022-2023 Season. Executive Director Cheryle Caplinger says, “Carlos is an invaluable part of the ASO team. Audiences throughout the state appreciate his energy and passionate approach to music. We’re excited about the future!”

Maestro Izcaray says, “I’m honoured and excited to be with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra! Each year I’ve been here, I’ve seen the orchestra grow in musicianship – the future is bright in Alabama. I look forward to continuing to change lives through music.”

Dixon Brooke, Chairman of ASO Board, says, “We are most pleased to have Carlos’ commitment to lead the ASO for another 4 years. Carlos and his family are true assets to our community, and we are delighted to have them here.”
