We are delighted to welcome British soprano Elizabeth Llewellyn, who joins Hazard Chase for general management.

In 2010, Elizabeth was named “best newcomer in opera”, following her operatic debut as Mimi in Jonathan Miller’s production of La Bohéme at English National Opera. Since then, she has developed a wider platform on the international stage, with recent performances including her US debut as Bess Porgy & Bess at Seattle Opera, Suor Angelica/Giorgetta Il Trittico at the Royal Danish Opera, Donna Elvira Don Giovanni at Bergen National Opera, Magda de Civry La Rondine at Opera Holland Park and title roleTosca at Theater Magdeburg.

Having firmly established herself within the realm of lyric-spinto repertoire, Elizabeth most recently made her debut in the role of Cio-Cio San Madama Butterfly at the Royal Danish Opera to critical acclaim:

“Elizabeth Llewellyn’s portrayal of Cio-Cio San, better known as Madama Butterfly, was exquisite as she conveyed the personal anecdote of this geisha wife through her angelic vocals. Her beautifully layered singing reverberated through the entire room and made a world outside of her perfectly pitched notes seem obsolete.” – CPH Post

Looking further ahead, this season Elizabeth can be heard singing the title role in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut at Opera Holland Park, with future appearances including Ellen Orford Peter Grimes and the title role in Luisa Miller.
