Irish mezzo-soprano Paula Murrihy returns to her roots, joining Irish National Opera to star in their upcoming production of Bluebeard’s Castle. Paula will make her debut in the role of Judith in Bartók’s one-act gothic opera, singing opposite Australian/American bass Joshua Bloom in the role of Bluebeard.

A dark psychological drama based on the French legend, the story follows Judith as she delves deeper into the Castle, revealing Bluebeard’s secrets and discovering her fate. André de Ridder conducts the RTÉ Orchestra in a production directed by Edna Walsh, in association with the Dublin Theatre Festival.

Bluebeard’s Castle opens on Friday 12th October, with further performances on 13th and 14th October. Following performances in Dublin, Paula returns to Frankfurt to make her debut as komponist in Strauss’ Ariadne auf naxos.
