Benjamin Grosvenor is in France this week for debut performances with the Orchestre National de Lyon. Conducted by the orchestra’s Directeur Musical Honoraire Leonard Slatkin he performs Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No 2, famously described by pianist Sigismund Stojowski as beginning like Bach and ending like Offenbach, at the Grande Salle of Lyon’s Auditorium as well as on tour in Aix-en-Provence.
Following these concerts with the Orchestre National he returns to the UK for further performances of Saint-Saëns’ concerto, appearing with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jacek Kaspszyk in Poole and Portsmouth next week.
