A disc of Owain Park’s choral works, performed by the Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge and conducted by Stephen Layton, has been nominated for the Choral category of the 2019 BBC Music Magazine Awards. An expert jury selected 21 of the finest recordings from a longlist of nearly 200 discs that BBC Music Magazine critics had awarded five stars to in the last 12 months.
Owain Park, born in 1993, is a composer based in the United Kingdom, formerly Senior Organ Scholar at Trinity College Cambridge. His works are published by Novello and have been performed internationally by ensembles including the Tallis Scholars, the Aurora Ensemble and the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir. Gramophone has described Park as “no mere one-minute wonder, but a composer who is going to make a very distinct mark on the British choral tradition”.
