Bass-baritone Tristan Hambleton will sing the role of Tom in Welsh National Opera’s upcoming new production of Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera, directed by David Pountney. Under the baton of Italian conductor Carlo Rizzi, Tristan will sing alongside Gwyn Hughes Jones as Riccardo, Mary Elizabeth Williams as Amelia and Julie Martin du Theil as Oscar.
Tristan returns to Welsh National Opera following his engagements earlier this season; covering Alidoro La Cenerentola and bass roles in the new production of Prokofiev’s War & Peace. Following performances throughout the UK with WNO, Tristan will join Nevill Holt Opera to sing Quince in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Concert performances later this year include Brahms and Mozart Requiem and Elgar The Apostles, all at Canterbury Cathedral, Beethoven Symphony No. 9 in Colchester, Bach St Matthew Passion at Merton College, Oxford, Haydn Mass No. 4 and 8 at Winchester Music Club, and Stainer The Crucifixion in Chester.
