Music Director Grant Llewellyn is in Raleigh this week to conduct the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra Season Closer concerts. Llewellyn is joined by soloist Jonathan Biss to perform a new work, Watermark, written by North Carolina born and 2013 Pulitzer Prize winner, Caroline Shaw, the youngest musician ever to win this prestigious award. The work is co-commissioned by the North Carolina Symphony and inspired by Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Featuring both of these pieces, the concerts will open with Beethoven’s Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus and close with Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony. The concerts take place in Raleigh on Friday 17th May and Saturday 18th May.
