Many happy returns to Andrew Litton, who celebrates his 60th birthday today. Born in New York City, Andrew earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from The Juilliard School in piano and conducting, before serving as assistant conductor at La Scala and at the National Symphony Orchestra under Mstislav Rostropovich.

In his long and illustrious career to date, Andrew has held posts with top orchestras worldwide, including the Dallas Symphony, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Bergen Philharmonic. He is presently Music Director of the New York City Ballet, Principal Conductor of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as well as Conductor Laureate both in Bournemouth and in Bergen.

Highlights in Andrew’s diary in the coming year include performances with Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, the City of Birmingham and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras, Orquestra Sinfonica de Galicia, Orchestra of Royal Swedish Opera, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, New York City Ballet, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and with the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan.
