In this outstanding recording from Hyperion, Christopher Purves demonstrates the huge range of his vocal and dramatic abilities in a selection of virtuoso bass arias from, amongst others, Aci, Galatea e Polifemo, L’Allegro, Il Penseroso ed il Moderato and Riccardo Primo. Jonathan Cohen conducts Arcangelo.
No fewer than 50 performances of Handel’s MESSIAH will be given by Hazard Chase singers in the month of December alone. Performances range as far afield as New York (Alastair Miles), Toronto (Joanne Lunn), Iceland (James Gilchrist), Oslo (Sophie Junker), the Netherlands (Charles Daniels), Lyon (Andrew Kennedy) and Ulster (John McMunn).
