This week, conductor Grant Llewellyn takes the Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne to La Chaise-Dieu Festival de Musique. The festival, in its 53rd year, attracts thousands of music lovers and internationally renowed artists every year to the famous Abbey of Saint Robert, a gothic abbey in the heart of the Haute-Loire.
The orchestra are performing two concerts at the festival, the first with a programme that features Cras’ Ames d’enfants, Schubert’s Symphony No. 6 “Little” and Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat major, with pianist Adam Laloum, followed by a second concert to include Lory’s Plinn et Variations, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 “Italian” as well as his Violin Concerto, performed by Dorota Anderszewska. The concerts take place in the Abbatiale Saint-Robert on 30th and 31st August respectively.
