Matilda Lloyd will make her South Africa debut next week, beginning her tour as a soloist with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban, on 7th November, and continuing with a run of concerts with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
The first of these concerts, conducted by Daniel Boico, takes place at Durban City Hall with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic, and will see Matilda perform Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major. The concert will also showcase a selection of choral and orchestral works by South African composers.
Matilda will continue her South Africa tour with the Johannesburg Philharmonic at the Linder Auditorium where she will perform Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto also. Matilda will also perform Julian Milone’s arrangement of Piazzolla’s Libertango as an encore. This arrangement was first performed by Alison Balsom and the BBC Symphony Orchestra at The Proms in 2009.
