Alpesh Chauhan leaves Italy today following six consecutive weeks of critically acclaimed concerts with five different orchestras throughout the country. His engagements included the season opening concerts at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 and Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1, played by Francesca Dego on Il Cannone, the composer’s own instrument at Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa, Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2 with the orchestra of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the season opening concerts of his own orchestra, the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini in Parma, which featured Beethoven’s Symphonies No. 8 and 9, and finally stepping in at very short notice with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, for two concerts featuring music by Tchaikovsky and Strauss.
Alpesh’s next project is a tour with the joint musicians of Het Gelders Orkest and Orkest van het Oosten, with whom he performs Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben. Renowned pianist Boris Giltburg joins them for Rachmaninoff’s mighty Piano Concerto No. 3.
