Violinist Viviane Hagner returns to Canada this week for two performances as part of the 2020 Vancouver Symphony Orchestra New Music Festival. Performing one of her signature pieces Unsuk Chin’s Violin Concerto under the baton of Otto Tausk, the concert takes place at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on 11th January and also features Nicole Lizée’s “Behind the Sound of Music for Orchestra and Glitch” and Saariaho’s “D’om le vrai sens” with clarinettist Kari Kriikku. Hagner’s second performance is a concert of solo violin repertoire, with works ranging from five centuries including those by composers Bach, Kreisler, Kuntze-Krakau, Kurtag and Yun. The concert takes place at Christ Church Cathedral on 13th January.
