The Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Artistic Director Eduard Topchjan, started their debut tour of China on 27th December 2019 beginning with a performance at Shanghai’s Grand Theatre. The tour includes 10 concerts across 9 cities, visiting the Shanzan Concert Hall, Wuxi Grand Theater, Qintai Concert Hall, and ending on 9th January 2020 at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
Tour repertoire includes excerpts of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, and Romeo and Juliet Op.64 by Prokofiev. Serving as ambassadors for Armenian arts and culture, the orchestra will perform Masquerade Suite and Spartacus ballet suites by Armenian Composer Aram Khachaturian. The orchestra will also be collaborating with young Chinese clarinettist Shen Tianyi during the tour, performing Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A major.
