Masaaki Suzuki and Bach Collegium Japan
Having won the award twice already in 2003 and 2008, Masaaki Suzuki’s recording of Bach Motets with Bach Collegium Japan was chosen as the best choral music disc of the year and was hailed in the April issue of Diapason as a new reading of the works ‘transforming them, through supremely fine-drawn lines and a perfectly radiant energy, into glorious stained glass windows.’ The award was presented to Masaaki Suzuki at his 20th anniversary concert with Bach Collegium Japan in Tokyo and follows the award of the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik for the same recording.
J.S. Bach Sonatas and Partitas
Isabelle Faust received the Diapason d’Or for her recording of Sonatas and Partitas by J.S. Bach (BWV 1004-1006). Earlier this year Isabelle also received a Gramophone Award for her recording of the Beethoven Violin Sonatas with Alexander Melnikov.
