Opera East’s artistic director Oliver Gooch is delighted to learn that their production of Heart of Darkness has been nominated for a South Bank Sky Arts Award in the Opera Category alongside Damnation of Faust (ENO) and Mignon (Buxton Festival).

Based on Joseph Conrad’s novel, Tarik O’Regan’s Heart of Darkness had its world première in a production by Edward Dick at the Linbury Studio, Royal Opera House in November 2011.

The South Bank Sky Arts Awards are one of the world’s most coveted arts awards, celebrating the best of British culture and achievement across visual art, theatre, opera, dance, comedy, classical music, pop, TV drama, literature and film. Melvyn Bragg will once again act as editor and master of ceremonies. The award ceremony will take place at the Dorchester on 1st May 2012.
