At the age of 15, Laura van der Heijden was awarded the title of BBC Young Musician 2012, impressing critics and audiences alike with her brilliant performance of Walton’s Cello Concerto.
Since then Laura has been very busy performing chamber and orchestral concerts in the UK and Europe, while also continuing her studies with renowned cellist Leonid Gorokhov in Germany and at the junior department of the Royal College of Music.
In the 2013/14 season, Laura will embark on a series of recitals and performances of the Elgar cello concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Mozart Players. Later in the season she will give her debut in Holland with the Arnhem Philharmonic, and appear as soloist with the English Chamber and the European Union Chamber Orchestras.
Laura has recently become an Ambassador for the Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts.
