Masaaki Suzuki returns to the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic to conduct two of the orchestra’s final three concerts before, due to severe budget cuts, the ensemble is disbanded.
Joined by Nicola Benedetti, Suzuki conducts Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite, Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.3 and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.4 on Wednesday 10 July in the Concertgebouw. This is followed on Friday 12 July with a Mendelssohn’s Hebrides overture, Mozart’s Clarinet Concertoin A, played by Michael Collins, and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3.
Frans Brüggen leads their last concert on 14 July, coming full circle with a performance of Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.5, a work he conducted in their very first concert in 2005. This work will be preceded by Bach’s Cantata No.80.
