Today sees the announcement that Grant Llewellyn is extending his contract with the North Carolina Symphony through 2018. Coinciding with his tenth year in post, this weekend therefore celebrates two significant landmarks for the Welsh conductor.

On 19 September North Carolina recognises these milestones with a special performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 alongside North Carolina Master Chorale, Barbara Shirvis, Paula Murrihy, Benjamin Butterfield and Kevin Deas at the Meymandi Concert Hall in central Raleigh. This concert also marks the start of the 2013-14 season and leads into further performances of Beethoven 9 over the weekend in both their home at Meymandi  Concert Hall and Memorial Auditorium in Chapel Hill.
