David Kempster sings the title role in Nabucco for Welsh National Opera
Baritone David Kempster makes his role debut as Verdi’s Nabucco, directed by Rudolf Frey and conducted by Xian Zhang. Nabucco opens on May 31st in Cardiff, with further performances June 8, 12, 14, 19, 21.
Nabucco is the latest in David’s growing list of Verdi roles, which includes Di Luna Il Trovatore, Amonasro Aida, and Iago Otello, prompting one critic to comment that he had ‘blossomed into a true Verdi baritone’. Next season David returns to Welsh National Opera for the title role in Guillaume Tell, and sings Sévère in Donizetti’s Les Martyrs in a recording with Mark Elder and Opera Rara, followed by a concert at the Royal Festival Hall.
