Callum Thorpe will be appearing as Antinoo in the new production of IL RITORNO D’ULISSE IN PATRIA at this years festival.  Celebrated baroque conductor Christian Curnyn returns to the Iford festival for Monteverdi’s tale of Ulysses, who after ten years wandering, returns to his long suffering wife Penelope.  Cast also includes Jonathan McGovern, Rowan Hellier and Nick Pritchard.  BBC Music Magazine list this production as one of their “20 Unmissable Events” (August Edition)

This new production of Monteverdi’s ULISSE, sung in English, is directed by Justin Way with designs by Kimm Kovac and opens at the Iford Festival near Bath on Saturday 26th July with further performances on 27th, 29th, 30th and then on 1st and 2nd August.

Engagements in 2014/2015 for Callum also include Jupiter Platée at St. John’s Smith Square (Early Opera Company), bass cover in the world premiere of Shell Shock (Nicholas Lens & Nick Cave) for La Monnaie, Brussels, Plutone L’Orfeo for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden at the Roundhouse and Gibarian in the world première performances of Fujikura’s Solaris (Paris, Lille & Lausanne).  Subsequent engagements include Valens Theodora at the Théâtre de Champs Elysées.
