Andrew Litton appointed Music Director of New York City Ballet Orchestra
Maestro will take up new position in 2015/16 season
Andrew Litton has been appointed Music Director of the prestigious New York City Ballet Orchestra starting in September 2015. Currently serving as Music Director of Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Colorado Symphony Orchestra he first conducted the City Ballet Orchestra in February 2014 in several performances of George Balanchine and Alexandra Danilova’s Coppélia with music by Delibes.
Mr Litton is very excited at the prospect of working with the orchestra on a regular basis: “I think the City Ballet Orchestra are unsung heroes, because they go through more repertoire in a year than most symphony orchestras that I’ve ever encountered. And the number of new pieces that are premiered or done by this orchestra — it’s extraordinary.”
