Richard Jones’ 2010 production of Wagner’s great comedy The Mastersingers of Nuremberg has already received much critical acclaim, receiving 5-star reviews across the board. Critics have commented on the uniformly excellent singing and acting of the exceptional cast.

Hazard Chase singers Madeleine Shaw and James Creswell’s performances have been highlighted as being particularly noteworthy; with David Karlin from Bachtrack noting, “I especially enjoyed the sweetness of timbre of Madeleine Shaw’s Magdalene and the flexibility and depth of James Creswell’s Pogner.”

The Mastersingers of Nuremberg opened at The Coliseum on Saturday 7 February, with further performances on 14, 18, 21, 25 February and 3, 7, 10 March. Further information can be found on the ENO website.
