In his latest role for Covent Garden, Peter Hoare appears as Fatty the Bookkeeper in John Fulljames’ new production of The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny. He joins a stellar cast which includes Anne Sophie von Otter, Sir Willard White and Christine Rice. Mark Wigglesworth conducts.

Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny opens on Tuesday 10 March, with further performances on 12, 14, 24, 28 March, 1 and 4 April. The performance on 1 April will be broadcast live in cinemas, and will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 on 14 March.
Having made his Royal Opera debut in 2001 singing Spoletto (Tosca), Peter Hoare’s many roles for The Royal Opera have included Valzacchi (Der Rosenkavalier), Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte), Goro (Madama Butterfly), Don Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro), and most recently Larry King (Anna Nicole) and The Abbé (Andrea Chénier). Also this season: Creon (The Thebans) in Bonn and Dr Caius (Falstaff, ROH).
