Benjamin Grosvenor, at age 22 already a regular Proms artist, will take the stage at the Last Night of the Proms on 12th September 2015. He joins the BBC Symphony Orchestra and conductor Marin Alsop for a performance of Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No.2, followed by two solo pieces, Gershwin/Grainger’s Love Walked In and Gould’s Boogie Woogie Etude.

This comes four years after Benjamin’s triumphant Proms début at the First Night in 2011, which garnered much acclaim – “liquid gold in his fingers” (The Independent), “a terrific outing” (ClassicalSource.com), “star glitter and subtle musicianship” (The Times). Since then Benjamin has returned to the Proms for concerts with the National Youth Orchestra/Vladimir Jurowski, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra/Charles Dutoit, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra/Gianandrea Noseda and a Chamber Music solo recital at Cadogan Hall featuring a new commission by Judith Weir, Day Break Shadows Flee, written especially for him.
