Alpesh Chauhan will step up to conduct the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for two concerts in Birmingham tonight and Oxford on Friday, replacing outgoing Music Director Andris Nelsons. Alpesh, who is Assistant Conductor at the CBSO, will lead the orchestra in a programme including Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished”, Strauss’ Horn Concerto No.2 and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7. Tonight’s concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 from 7:30pm.

Alpesh has had an extraordinary season that has seen him début with the Netherlands Symphony and the BBC Philharmonic and Scottish Orchestras, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini in Parma as well as with Kymi Sinfonietta.
