Matthew Halls, Artistic Director of the Oregon Bach Festival, opens this year’s festivities with a performance of Haydn’s Creation on 25 June. The Festival will also feature key oratorio works, including Lord Nelson Mass (led by Masaaki Suzuki), Pärt’s Passio (including soprano Joanne Lunn), Bach’s St John Passion and culminates on 12 July in a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 Resurrection, conducted by Halls.

This year also marks the launch of the Berwick Academy, its first orchestral training and touring programme. Open to young professional musicians, it focuses on historically informed performance between the 17th-19th Centuries. The course, led by Matthew Halls, Masaaki Suzuki, Monica Huggett and Robert Levin, includes a six concert tour in venues across Eugene, Florence and Portland.
