Taking the stage at the illustrious Last Night of the Proms in September 2015 Benjamin Grosvenor “made the biggest impression” of the evening (Financial Times). Described as “sublime” (The Times), “electrifying” and playing “with unimaginable brilliance” (The Telegraph) Benjamin Grosvenor performed Shostakovich’s Second Piano Concerto alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Sharing in the festivities of the second half Benjamin joined the orchestra in conductor Marin Alsop’s arrangement of J. P. Johnson’s Victory Stride where he “showed an unexpected talent for stride piano” (The Telegraph). Finishing his part of the evening Benjamin performed two solo pieces, Percy Grainger’s arrangement of Love Walked In and Gould’s Boogie Woogie, which were rapturously received.
