Gareth Dafydd Morris studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music.
Gareth is contracted to Welsh National Opera and has recently sung the roles of Cherevin and off stage voice in From the House of the Dead and Streshnev in Khovanshchina, Kaherdin in Le Vin Herbe and Faninal’s Major Domo in Der Rosenkavalier and covered Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Kuzka in Khovanshchina. Other covers include King Mark Le Vin Herbe, Benoit La Bohème, German Soldier and Private Watcyn in the world premiere of In Parenthesis and Malcolm in Macbeth.
Selected roles elsewhere include Faust in Boito’s Mefistofele and title role Roberto Devereux for Opera Valladolid, Triquet Eugene Onegin for Opera Holland Park, Borsa Rigoletto, Bardolfo Falstaff and 1st Servant Capriccio all for Grange Park Opera, Rodolfo La Bohème and Cavaradossi Tosca for OperaUpClose, Jenik The Bartered Bride for Kentish Opera, Alfred Die Fledermaus and Camille The Merry Widow for Opera della Luna.
Gareth performs internationally in concert and oratorio and has broadcast as a soloist with BBC NOW and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra on BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4. His concert repertoire is extensive and covers from all the major Bach Passionsto Verdi Requiem. Gareth was runner up in the Wagner Society’s Singing Competition in November 2015 and won the President’s Award, given by Dame Gwyneth Jones.
Future performances include Messiah in Taunton, Cardiff and Swansea, Carmina Burana and Schubert Mass in Eb both in London.
