Henriikka Gröndahl

Finnish born soprano Henriikka Gröndahl graduated with distinction from the opera course of the RSAMD in 2003, where she studied with Patricia McMahon. She made her professional debut as Mimi in La Bohème for Scottish Opera in 2004.

Henriikka frequently performs in concerts both in Sweden and around Europe; major works have included Brahms Ein Deutches Requiem (Cheltenham), Mozart Requiem (Barcelona and Anghiari, Italy), the C minor Mass and Rossini Stabat Mater (Paisley), Pergolesi Stabat Mater (Imperia, Italia), Beethoven Mass in C (Glasgow), the Berio Folksongs and most recently she sang Rosario in Granados Goyescas at the Scottish Opera Spanish Evening concert at Edinburgh Festival Theatre, conducted by Roland Böer.

While at the RSAMD, Henriikka performed the roles of Nella Gianni Schicchi, Massenet’s Manon, Princesse L’enfant et les Sortilèges, Handel’s Alcina under Christian Curnyn and Ilia in Mozart’s Idomeneo under Timothy Dean. She begun her professional career singing Pamina for BYO, Mimi for Scottish Opera, Papagena (covering Pamina) for Glyndebourne Touring Opera and made her home debut in Sweden at the Royal Opera of Sweden, Stockholm, singing Princesse again in 2005. Thereafter she sang Fiordiligi Cosi fan tutte at the Sage, Gateshead, directed by Sir Thomas Allen, and Nannetta Falstaff at the Gothenburg Opera House, after which she returned to Scottish Opera to perform Donna Elvira Don Giovanni in 2006. Recent engagements include a special performance of Die Zauberflöte on the Götaplatsen for Gothenberg Opera, Nannetta Falstaff with Gothenburg Opera House and Michael Haydn Requiem in Stockholm.

Master classes include Håkan Hagegård, Sir Thomas Allen, Ileana Cotrubas, Malcolm Martineau, Graham Johnson, Elly Ameling, Emanuele Moris, Sarah Walker and Philip Langridge. Future engagements include 5th Maid Elektra at the Gran Teatr del Liceu, Barcelona and recitals across Sweden.
