Piano Duos Artist List

Kathryn Stott and Noriko Ogawa

Celebrated pianists Kathryn Stott and Noriko Ogawa have joined forces to present a variety of repertoire for two pianos and piano duet. The collaboration was launched with great success in November 2001 with a concert in the NTL Studio as part of the Belfast Festival at Queen's. Stott and Ogawa have given individual concerto and recital performances to outstanding critical acclaim at the world’s most prestigious venues, and have been able to combine their wide-ranging knowledge of the repertoire to create varied programmes including works by Mozart, Ravel, Holst and Debussy to compositions by John Adams and Lutoslawski. The duo performed the world premiere of a new piano concerto ’Circuit’ written for them by Graham Fitkin with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Jason Lai at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, as part of the highly successful festival, Piano 2003. The duo have just completed a highly successful tour of Japan featuring Circuit and various recitals. The duo have recorded a CD of Delius works (especially arranged for them by Philip Heseltine (Peter Warlock)), for two pianos with BIS Records which was released in early 2004. The duo returned to Manchester to feature in Piano 2006 performing solo concertos and Mozart triple concerto to celebrate the Mozart Anniversary and have just finished recording 'Circuit' for BIS Records which is due for release in Spring 2009.

“This performance was masterly and while stunned by the technical brilliance, we also admired the penetrating minds behind the playing” Belfast Telegraph
