Linda Tuvås

Linda Tuvås was born in Stockholm and began her musical studies studying both singing and cello but ultimately chose to continue with her singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Thomas Hemsley and Vera Rosza. Whilst at the Guildhall, Linda was invited to make her Swedish and French debut at Drottningholms Slottstheater and at the Théâtre de Champs Elysées, Paris as Fatme in Gretry’s Zemire et Azor with Louis Langrée, directed by John Cox.  Subsequent appearances while at the Guildhall included Arminda La Finta Giardiniera, Giulietta Les Contes d’Hoffmann, the title role in the UK première of Massenet’s Griselidis and Tatyana Eugene Onegin for British Youth Opera.

Her operatic repertoire includes Pamina Die Zauberflöte and Child L’Enfant et les Sortilèges for the Royal Opera, Stockholm and Mimi La Bohème, Blanche Dialogues des Carmelites, Pamina, Micaela Carmen, Susanna Le Nozze di Figaro, Kate Pinkerton Madama Butterfly and Zerlina Don Giovanni (Östman) and also appeared in the world premières of Jan Sandströms Kafka as Ottla and as Skogsrå in Lars-Johan Werles’s Äppelkrige for Gothenburg Opera.

Other operatic appearances include Amor L’Incoronazione di Poppea and Musetta La Bohème (Rizzi) for Welsh National Opera, Cherubino and Barbarina Le Nozze di Figaro (Mackerras), Varvara Kat’á Kabanová, Second Niece Peter Grimes and Kristina The Makropulos Case for Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Varvara for Opéra de Lyon.  Linda also appeared as Kristina at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York with Glyndebourne Festival. She was awarded the prestigious John Christie Award while with Glyndebourne.

As a concert artist Linda has appeared at many of Sweden’s major concert venues including the Berwaldhallen, Stockholm and Gothenburg Konserthus in such repertoire as Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Midsummer Night’s Dream, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle, Pergolesi Stabat Mater and Mozart Exsultate Jubilate.  Recent and future engagements include her Royal Opera House, Covent Garden debut as Varvara Kat’á Kabanová with Sir Charles Mackerras and Cherubino for the Royal Opera, Stockholm.
