Marie Arnet

Marie Arnet was born in Sweden and studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the National Opera Studio.

Marie’s concert repertoire includes Bach’s St John Passion, Mass in B Minor, Mahler’s 2nd and 4th Symphonies, the Brahms, Fauré and Mozart Requiems, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, the Nelson Mass & The Creation by Haydn and Bruckner’s Te Deum.  She has appeared in Berlioz’s L’enfance du Christ at the Three Choirs Festival, Mozart’s Requiem with Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Consort, performances of A Child of Our Time and Stravinsky’s Les Noces with the Orquesta Radio Televisión in Madrid, Handel’s Solomon with Rene Jacobs and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and, to great critical acclaim, Brahms’ German Requiem at the Proms with James Conlon.

Operatic appearances include Barbarina and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Diane Iphigénie en Aulide and Ilia in Idomeneo (conducted by Sir Simon Rattle) at the Glyndebourne Festival, a hugely successful debut in the role of Sophie Der Rosenkavalier at Opera North, and Pamina Die Zauberflöte for Scottish Opera. She made her European debut singing Eurydice in a new production of Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice at Opera de Lausanne, where she returned to perform in Salieri’s La Grotta di Trofonio with Christoph Rousset.  In 2004 she returned to the Glyndebourne Festival as Mélisande Pelléas et Mélisande to widespread critical acclaim.   Marie also made her debut at the Teatro Real in Madrid as Pamina Die Zauberflöte and in Palermo as Mélisande and has made guest appearances as Ilia Idomeneo for Hamburg State Opera, Xenia Boris Godunov, Ilia and Ginevra Ariodante at the Liceu in Barcelona, Pamina Die Zauberflöte in Nantes and Melisande and Belinda Dido & Aeneas at La Scala, Milan.

Recent engagements include Susanna The Marriage of Figaro at English National Opera, Solomon for the NDR, Mozart Requiem for the London Symphony Orchestra with Sir Colin Davis in London and New York, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio on a tour with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants and Mozart Requiem at the Festival de Saint Denis.  Future engagements include Eurydice Orphée et Eurydice at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, Drusilla in the new production of L’Incoronazione di Poppea for Glyndebourne Festival, Susanna Le Nozze di Figaro for Netherlands Opera and Pamina Die Zauberflöte with Los Angeles Opera.
