Rosie Aldridge

Born in Hertfordshire, Rosie Aldridge recently completed her studies at the Royal College of Music International Opera School where she held the H. F. Trust scholarship and was awarded the McCulloch Prize for Opera. She currently studies with Janis Kelly, having previously worked with Kathleen Livingstone. Rosie was recently selected for the Glyndebourne Jerwood Trust Young Artist Programme where she played the role of Lady-in-Waiting Macbeth conducted by Vasily Petrenko and covered the role of Baba in the revival of the Hockney production of The Rake’s Progress conducted by Vladimir Jurowski at the Glyndebourne Festival.

Recent roles include: Eduige Rodelinda (London Handel Festival); Cleone Alessandro (London Handel Festival); Hippolyta A Midsummer Night’s Dream (RCMIOS); Baba the Turk/Mother Goose The Rake’s Progress (BYO); Third Lady  Die Zauberflöte (RCMIOS); and Public Opinion Orpheus in the Underworld (RCMIOS/Scottish Opera cover). Competition successes include the RCM Concerto Competition where she performed Elgar’s Sea Pictures conducted by Martin André; the RCM English Song Competition; and the Cuthbert Smith Prize in the Lies Askonas Competition. Recent sponsorship includes: the Josephine Baker Trust; an MBF Sybil Tutton Award; and a Star Award from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

Rosie has enjoyed extensive oratorio and concert experience including: Elijah at the Barbican with Sir Thomas Allen; Verdi’s Requiem at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle; Dvorák’s Stabat Mater at the Cadogan Hall; Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at St John’s, Smith Square; Elgar’s Sea Pictures at St George's, Bristol; and Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Recent performances include: Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius at the Barbican; Berlioz' Les Nuits d’Été; a recital at the Wigmore Hall; and the role of Lady Jane Patience at the Musée d’Orsay, Paris. Engagements in 2011/2012 include Amastris (cover) Xerxes for English Touring Opera, a series of Opera Highlights concerts and cover Baba the Turk The Rake's Progress for Scottish Opera and Wesendonck Lieder at West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge.  Subsequent engagements include Florence Pike Albert Herring for English Touring Opera, a recital at the Musée d'Orsay, Paris and Ruth in the new production of The Pirates of Penzance for Scottish Opera.  Rosie is generously supported by a Sadler’s Wells Independent Opera Fellowship award.
