We can't believe that this will be our twentieth season as 'Quartet in Residence' at the University! What an honour it has been (and, we hope, will continue to be) and how incredible that we know that quite a numer of you have been to every concert in that time. Thank you all for your support - we value it hugely.
We love Mendelssohn greatly but, for some reason, we haven't played his quartets very much in Cambridge. It just so happens that he wrote six complete works for the genre, the first when he was eighteen and the last was his final complete work, so placing one in each of our concerts should work out nicely. I hope that together we shall revel in the inspiration, energy, compositionial brilliance and wide-eyed innocence of this astonishing genius
