Hazard Chase welcomes distinguished soprano June Anderson
Dramatic coloratura soprano June Anderson is one the most distinguished classical artists performing today. She has performed in all the major opera houses including La Scala, Milan; Covent Garden, London; Chicago Lyric Opera; San Francisco, the Liceu, Barcelona; the Opera de Paris and the Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires. Recital and concert tours have taken her around the world to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Prague, Warsaw, Helsinki, Reykjavik, Mexico City, Sao Paulo and Montevideo. She has collaborated with many of the greatest conductors, among them Leonard Bernstein, James Levine, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa and Michael Tilson Thomas. Recent performances include Norma in Leipzig and Marseille, guest appearances with the Brussels Théâtre de la Monnaie (Vier Letzte Lieder with Kazushi Ono) and the London Philharmonia Orchestra, as well as her first Verdi Requeim with the Orchestre de Paris conducted by Christoph Eschenbach. She will also took part in the Maria Callas Tribute Gala at La Fenice, Venice singing excerpts from Norma and I Puritani.
“Anderson has a remarkable dramatic presence. (She) captures the full conflict that besets Norma. The American soprano also captures the role's intimate side, first shown in the famous aria "Casta diva," which invokes the goddess of the moon. Anderson alone is worth the price of admission.” Title role Norma (Canadian Opera Company), John Terauds, Toronto Star
