Isabelle Faust's recording of the second Martinù Violin Concerto with Jirí Belohlávek and the Prague Philharmonia (Harmonia Mundi) is '...a near-ideal interpretation of the work. '...Michael Collins (whom many contemporary composers have been lucky to have as an interpreter) repeats the success of his disc of numbers 1 and 2 with elegantly phrased melodies, immaculate passagework and wondrously even trills...'
"Stephen Layton's flair-ful recording" of Handel's Dettingen Te Deum, also available on Hyperion, displays the conductor's trademark commitment to authentic performance practice and '...fervently rethinks every detail. His tempos are faultless...'.
Martin Roscoe's recording of Nielsen's complete piano music gains five stars for performance '...Martin Roscoe is right inside this music and guides us through its marvels with great subtlety and authority...'. The disc includes the Symphonic Suite, A Dream about 'Silent Night', Festival Prelude for the New Century and Piano Music for Young and Old.
Finally, Hazard Chase guitarist Julian Bream receives five stars for his new disc The Essential Julian Bream.
